Jotul is a Norwegian manufacturer of high quality stoves and has been manufacturing cast iron stoves since 1853. The simplicity and durability of the Jotul cast iron stove range is in our view unsurpassed. Unlike most other stoves that use vermiculite (very soft fire bricks) or traditional fire bricks in their stoves to protect the stove from the heat, Jotul’s cast iron range of stoves uses cast iron plates on the inside of the firebox. This means that you not only gain significantly more space (Jotul F100 – 400mm log size @ 5.5kw output) inside but should also be able to use your stove for many years before you have to replace any parts. Vermiculite and traditional fire bricks on the other hand only have a relatively short lifespan meaning you will have to replace these parts fairly frequently, which is great news for the retailer but not quite so great for you the consumer. At Bramhope Stoves our knowledge regarding the cast iron range of Jotul wood burning stoves is perhaps unsurpassed in North Yorkshire.
